LOADS

The LOADS JIP is concerned with the calculation of wave and wave-current loads acting on jacket structures in intermediate to deep water. It will include the accurate prediction of both the sub-structure and the wave-in-deck loads suitable for application in both deterministic and structural reliability analyses. The JIP commenced in January 2016 and will be completed in December 2017. It presently has six participants from within the Oil and Gas Industry.

NS1200

The NS1200 project is concerned with forcing a wave model with the winds from a climate model in order to generate a 1200 year simulation of waves across the North and Norwegian Seas. This enables the explicit physical modelling of storms that are much larger than have been observed historically. The result is a significant reduction in the uncertainty in estimates of extreme metocean conditions such as ten thousand year return period crest elevations. The first phase was completed in October 2016.
